Boy Scout leaders delay vote to allow gay membership
The Boy Scout board recently announced that they will put off the decision to allow the membership of LGBTQ Boy Scout members until at least May, in spite of plans to possibly have had a vote by now.
The decision will be made at the board's annual meeting that will have over 1000 people in attendance. The board commented that it needed more time to get feedback from the Scout members to make a decision.
Said the board in a written statement, "After careful consideration and extensive dialogue within the Scouting family, along with comments from those outside the organization, the volunteer officers of the Boy Scouts of America's National Executive Board concluded that due to the complexity of this issue, the organization needs time for a more deliberate review of its membership policy."
