CU unveils new facility
With the cut of a ribbon, the University of Colorado ushered in a new era in men's and women's basketball, along with volleyball at a practice facility unveiling ceremony on Saturday.
The program, which featured tours of the new $10 million facility, included speeches by former women's basketball head coach and current administrator, Ceal Barry and Chancellor Phil DiStefano. Barry noted the facility's existence is a large credit to the work of Mike Bohn, the schools director of athletics, and added that the facility will help the Buffs compete in the future.
"It's going to pay tremendous dividends as we move into the Pac-12 Conference," said Barry. DeStefano also told a tale of when Linda Lappe's women's basketball team was ushered off the Coors Events Center floor (the only one they had to practice on) by a camera crew awaiting the CU-Kansas men's basketball game. Now, thanks to the facility, conflicts such as these will be avoided.
