Girls Basketball Season Update
Averaging almost 70 points per game in December, the girls’ basketball team started off their season strong. After a great kick off with a record of 4-1, the team was looking forward to the rest of the season, as they were ranked 9th in the state. Their current record is now 6-5, but the team still wishes to go far this year and make a statement.
“We can be a team to be reckoned with as long as we just continue playing unselfishly and are working hard every game,” said Annika Lai, senior.
An advantage the girls have is their team configuration. They share the ball and work well as a team overall, with two freshmen starting.
“Almost every game, every person has scored,” said Lai. “Everyone’s getting shots.”
Despite their winning season so far, few Fairview fans have attended the games. The average amount of students that come and support the girl’s basketball team can be counted with one hand.
“The Boulder-Fairview game we get a lot of people, but that’s because they come like, half-way through our game, to go watch the guys afterwards,” said Lai, when asked about the fan section. “[Students] should definitely come out and watch because the support is really needed.”
Some big rivalry games are coming up: Fairview versus Boulder on Thursday, January 29th and Fairview at Monarch on Tuesday, February 9th.
