Knights drop opener to Lakewood

By Matt Sparkman in Sports

Without it's best player, Fairview volleyball struggled to finish winnable sets on Friday.

Facing Lakewood, the Knights, without University of Colorado commit Nicole Edelman (back), contended strongly in each set, but when it mattered most let a lead slip away, losing 3-0 to the Tigers. Kendall Lavine had a solid game from her middle blocker position, and Alex Flynn and Ali Carleton both registered strong performances.

Fairview will have to rebound quickly, as they host Cherry Creek next Tuesday at 6:30. The Bruins always feature one of the strongest teams in the state of Colorado.
