Knights upset Fort Collins

By Piper Salvator in Sports

Fairview took their fifth consecutive win on Friday night against Fort Collins, 45-39. As a result, the Knights are tied for third in the Front Range League.

Sarah Kaufman led the Knights with 11 points, while Sonia Ghosh added 10. The Knights worked well as a team and created many offensive opportunities with patience and strong ball movement. The Knights were also tough on the boards as Hannah Hyde grabbed six rebounds.

The full court pressure that the Knights forced on Fort Collins created steals and fast several fast breaks. Fort Collins returned that pressure, though, and caused Fairview many turnovers.

During the first half it seemed like the Knights would not have any trouble defeating the Lambkins as they built a 22-11 lead.

Fairview began to slip in the second half as Fort Collins slowly began to catch up. The Lambkins took a 35-33 lead halfway through the fourth quarter, but the Knights did not give up. With a minute and a half Fairview reclaimed their lead with continued tough defensive pressure to pull out a 45-39 win over the Lambkins.
