Muppets Most Worstest

By Varun Narayanswamy in Arts & Culture

The childrens tv show that we all grew up with, The Muppets, was a huge hit with our generations. Many fairview students grew up watching the Muppets. Later in 2011 Disney released the Muppets in a new form: a movie. “The Muppets” movie was an instant favorite for many members of older generations, such as ours, that grew with the show. Many parents also enjoyed it and showed it to their children. I was one of them. I didn’t love it but I didn’t think it was bad. However, in the new movie, Muppets Most Wanted I am sorry to say that I did not enjoy it at all. In fact Rotten Tomatoes and Common Sense media ranked the sequel to be worse than the original movie. You know when you do something you used to love, like little soldiers, or playing dolls and you try again years later and it’s suddenly not as fun. That was the feeling I got when I saw this movie. I wasn’t sure if i’d outgrown muppets or if the movie was actually bad. However, I still enjoyed movies such as the Lego movie and the Pokémon games and I was supposed to have outgrown those too. No the movie was simply worse than the show. Now, you may be wondering why the movie was so awful. For one, the movie is quite dull. Kermit the frog is replaced by the world most wanted frog Constantine. Our hero is locked away is a Serbian prison and while his fake goes on a Muppets World Tour and slowly steals different artifacts to, in the end, steal the Crown Jewels of Great Britain. A good deal of the movie shows kermit locked away staring at a black wall but if not that it’s constantine singing some lame song. On top of this the movie has a little too much romance. Any muppets fan would know there is a special relationship between Kermit and Mrs. Piggy. In this movie, Disney pushed this too far. There were several songs between the two and if not between than, then the song was between Constantine and Mrs. Piggy. The song that weren’t romantic were fine but there weren’t enough of those. I can see how a child may like this movie. however, any person above the age of twelve will find this movie extremely boring. If you’re planning on going then don’t, It’s not worth the money. Not even if they give you the Crown Jewels of Great Britain.
