BVSD and Boulder Police Halt Student-Teacher Conversations About Sexual Assault
Yesterday afternoon, BVSD and the Boulder Police Department informed Fairview adminstrators that all student-faculty communication relating to recent sexual assault cases and the topic of sexual misconduct as a whole, would be halted.
If Fairview staff members discussed these topics with students, it would be considered an obstruction of ongoing criminal investigations and a violation of the Title IX Federal Statute.
While Fairview teachers are not authorized to speak on these issues, there are still a number of resources available at Fairview if students need help.
If you or someone you know is in need of support, please contact a counselor, the school interventionist, or the Fairview Assistant Principal, Sarah Digiacamo, who coordinates Title IX issues for the school.
Blue Sky Bridge and the National Sexual Assault Hotline also provide additional resources for those impacted by sexual assault and abuse and are not directly linked to the school.
Supporting students in the Fairview community is still a priority for faculty members, even under this new policy.
