Minya Ravisankar

Throughout her four years at Fairview, Minya Ravisankar (12) as student body vice president dedicates much of her time to the student body. However, Ravisankar has experienced incredible things in her life.

“My favorite place is my mother’s hometown in Tamilnadu, India. I’ve taken a few trips there for months at a time. All 6 uncles, 4 aunts, grandparents, and cousins live there. I love it because it allows me to take time and really embrace my roots and where I come from. The culture is absolutely beautiful and enriching. My favorite memory was when my mom, sister, and I took quite a few different trips to visit my moms old childhood friends and family. But my favorite was driving 4 hours to meet her 5th grade teacher. They had no contact after she left elementary school but even after so many years, they still had such a strong relationship. It showed me so much about the connections people take with them there in India. Even if they knew a person for a insignificant amount of time, they still remained important throughout the rest of their lives and made sure that the other person knew it. I think that’s so important.”

Despite the uncertainty of life, Ravisankar remains positive.

“I fear that I won’t and my accomplishments won’t be enough sometimes. It’s scary not knowing what you may amount to and if the things you do have a greater purpose. But I know that’s a part of life and that life’s one big mystery. In the end, I do think everything happens for a reason.”
