Emergency Order Tells Boulder County Residents to Stay Inside, Due to the Rapid Spread of COVID-19

On March 23, the City of Boulder issued an emergency order to the public stating that citizens in Boulder County must stay in their place of residence starting at 5:00 P.M. on March 24th until 5:00 P.M. on April 10th. When they are outside of their place of residence, they must practice social distancing, meaning standing 6 feet apart from any other person.
This means that all businesses, except for essential businesses, are required to halt all activities excluding “Minimum Basic Operations”.
The gathering of people within a single household outdoors is not prohibited in the order, but the gathering of people not in a single household outdoors is.
“All travel, including, but not limited to, travel on scooter, motorcycle, automobile, or public transit, except Essential Travel and Essential Activities […] is prohibited,” said the order.
The exceptions consist of activities essential to “individual health and safety”, getting necessary supplies, executing essential work, attending to a family member or pet in another residence and outdoor activities such as walking, biking or hiking provided that social distancing requirements are followed.
